Can anyone recommend a good substitute for UW while I wait for its release in the U.S.? Before you say Pirates!, I have played all the games in that series, including the most recent release for the P.C. I have to say, while they may tithe me over for a while, they are pretty lame by comparison to UW. I checked out the screenshots for the Pirates of the Burning Sea game, and while graphically it may be stimulating, the novelty of good graphics wears off pretty quick, and its novel, open-ended gameplay which makes people keep playing, as the cult status of UW proves.

Also, I think its pretty weak how UW let you travel the entire world, trade all sorts of goods, and yet Pirates! is lacking in any of these qualities (from what I can tell Pirates of the Burning Sea (which is a totally lame name for a game by the way) is also limited to the Carribean).

Anyway, if anyone knows of a halfway decent substitute for UW, or wishes to respond to my assertions about the game here, please post.

Should be a hint on the Tradewind-games. There is one, Tradewinds 2, you can get a password for to play it free, but not legal.

Just so you know. In Uncharted Waters Online you cannot explore the whole world. They have only released certain areas: Northern Europe, Western Mediterranean, Eastern Mediterranean, Caribbean, West Africa, South Africa, East Africa & India. This include the seas inbetween them. The world just "stops" after awhile.
