On Kickstarter I found a new game that is now crowdfunding called
Lands Unknown. It is a lot like UWNH where the player purchases ships, hire crews, and then engage in trade, exploration or piracy. The player can also chose land adventures such as exploring in interiors of Africa, The American West, or Central Asia.
