Just wanted to let you know about a game I'm developing which has Uncharted Waters as one of its main inspirations.

You can download it from free on http://slashware.net/blog/expedition-the-new-world/

All for suggestions for improvement are welcome

That looks like an interesting game. I will try to give it a go sometime in the near future.

Are there known ports besides the beginning location? I thought there were a lot of murders in the clip, is that normal or should there be that many normally?

Any information that I provide is based on the SNES version unless otherwise specified. I have thousands of hours into New Horizons and I have played it since it was released in the US on the SNES.

@chaoyun2k: There are no more ports for now, but I'll add the whole world on v0.4, including all known ports ๐Ÿ™‚

There were lots of murders because the crew was really depressed... must have touched land more often

@sizintsev: What do you mean about the diagram?

That sounds good!

Maybe you needed to load some rum...and maybe a band of gypsies for the trip. ๐Ÿ˜‰

What would someone do for entertainment in the 1490s?!

I thought that this might be intended as an Atlantic ports game, but it sounds like you are planning for a worldwide game eventually. Either way, I think it will be fun.

I think sizintsev is referring to the graphics quality of the game. The only time I even thought about the graphics was when you were going into the buildings before leaving port, how do you know which buildings to enter. I thought that might be addressed when the project was further along, but then I enjoy a game that is interesting for other reasons.

Undoubtedly, the game is interesting for many reasons. As though there ะฝะธะฑั‹ะปะพ, per day is given not less than 2 hours on it. It as chess, something difficult and unknown, as the most difficult game on light.

I think that lost something in the translation sizintsev. ๐Ÿ™‚

@chaoyun2k : Rum is definitely going to impact the morale of the expedition in the near future... had thought on adding bards or musician along, but don't know much about gypsies, will have to research a bit ๐Ÿ™‚

I indeed intend to do a world-wide game, right now the main inspiration has been Seven Cities of Gold (know the game?), mainly because you start in Spain and travel to the new world to conquest the natives (and trade). But Uncharted's the next inspiration to go, to allow worldwide exploration.

I wanted to check Atlantic Ports, but had no luck finding it... got any links to it?

I'll supply an additional more detailed tileset in the future (I'm 50% on it). In the meantime I find the 8x8 tiles very amusing ๐Ÿ™‚

It would be great to have you in the playtesting team. Doing a game like this requires a lot of work!

@sizintsev: As I understand you, you think the graphics need more work? That's probably true. I am adding a 32x32 tileset to work in addition with the 8x8 tiles.

You may want to look at the manual if it seems a bit complex, it's on the game page.
