Did someone offend them in some way for them to still not release things in English or is it pure selfishness?

Surely Koei has to realise that there is a bigger market out there for these products?

No.4 is now even coming to smartphones, but still only Japanese. sigh.

Daikoukai Jidai IV coming to smartphones in December in Japan

guess we are stuck learning how to play using online videos.

Yeah, I agree. This has been incredibly frustrating for all of us for years. I have no idea what they're thinking by simply ignoring English.

I would have thought that at least the steam releases would have supported English, but a lot of them don't at this time. There are a lot of Koei games I would like to play if they were in English.

Any information that I provide is based on the SNES version unless otherwise specified. I have thousands of hours into New Horizons and I have played it since it was released in the US on the SNES.

I actually own the Steam version of 1. I guess I can give a reason at least for them not supporting English (though truthfully it's.. not the best), it's the Japanese PC98 version being emulated. I still don't know why they wouldn't have released it with the DOS version as well with DOSBox though, considering there's already Steam games using it. Even just a toggle, could be a great way for people to find the games.

Chaoyun2k, you say you'd only play if in English? Sounds like so much for a little thing I was hoping. This here reminds me, I heard there was a cartridge version of UWNH that was released strictly in China, with 2 additional characters, 1 from India and 1 from China--never translated into English. I was hoping you're Chinese and speak Chinese, and thus might be able to get your hands on such a cartridge for me and understand it for me--and then tell me a capsuled description of the game-story of those 2 characters, and whether or not they start with a Dhow and a Junk instead of a Caravela Latina like the other 6.
