Post Translation project

Hello, I was wondering if anyone would be willing to start a project of translating any Daikoukai Jidai game (do not know which would be best to translate) and if someone in the forum knows Japanese, or how to hack roms.
maybe we could partner with any site that specializes in roms translations.

Well Link, I would be interested in translating the Sega Saturn version of the Daikoukai Jidai II rom, and I am part of a hacking community, so, I may check and see if anyone knows about hacking Sega Saturn ISOs. I know that it would definitely be possible to translate it, as, I have both seen Sega Saturn translations and, the game does have English letters in it for when you name a ship or rename a supply port. If nobody knows in the hacking community I am a part of (its the Metroid hacking community by the way), I may see about possibly seeing if anyone knows how to do this on romhacking.net, and if they are interested in maybe at least carrying over the SNES/Genesis or PC translation (A cleaner mix of the 2 would most likely work the best, as it keeps in the Churches and Mosques). I do believe that if we can supply a cleaner mix of the translation here at the forums, if somebody is interested and has Sega Saturn hacking capabilities, then, we could most likely finally get a translation of the game. We could do the same with Daikoukai Jidai Gaiden, but, the translation would either have to be done within an online translator that would give good translations, with cleaning up (which could very well take quite a while to complete) or we would have to get ahold of someone who is quite fluent within English and Japanese, an actual translator. I am a bit more in favor of Daikoukai Jidai II at the moment. Let me know if you are still interested in completing this Link.

Well that would be really nice! Tell me, what are the main changes about that version? Can't find much info about it. Plus, how could we help? And lastly sorry for the wait

Well, changes about the Sega Saturn/PS1 versions are quite major. First of all, of course, the music and graphics have been updated, Churches and Mosques have stayed in from the Japanese console versions and the PC version, and, something I just found out about today, discoveries are either changed around and/or there are new discoveries. Its kinda interesting.

Yeah, I will say one thing here, the hardest part of all of this will be getting ahold of someone who can hack Saturn ISOs and get them interested in the game, but, we shouldn't have to add English text into the game, as, its already in there. The spots where we have English text is where you name ships and rename Supply Ports. Basically, there are different little lists with different symbols. One of those lists is English text. So, as long as they can use the text, that part is covered. Our big part will be making the translation. I will most likely before I get ahold of someone get a rough translation for the game, or at least look at the items and trade goods of the game, and get those put together with both Japanese and English versions.

Yeah due to the fact that we would be translating what is essentially another version of UWNH, much of the text we can compare with the Snes or Genesis version. But I dont know how much can be done like that

Yes, but, due to the fact there are those other translations, we at least have something to work with. I don't think too much changing of the text will be needed, but, it could be harder. We could be doing Gaiden, where there isn't an English translation to date.

May honestly be a good idea, although, we may want to try to get ahold of someone who also knows English. Otherwise, it may be quite pointless, but, I very well see where you are coming from Link. If we had some Japanese friends, we could get a better translation for the game, and, it may be very worth it, considering, like I said before, there are either new discoveries or the places have been changed. This was tested using the Nile River, which I know of all the discoveries in there very well. So, yes, and Link, I leave the task of getting ahold of English speaking Japanese friends in your hands. I'm sick at the time of this message, so, there isn't too much I can do at the moment, sadly.
