I would like to start a discussion about historical persons that could (or should) be in a game like Uncharted Waters. I think is a great way to learn about specific historical facts that otherwise would be hard to find out. For example, i will start talking about Filippo Negroli, a millan armourer. He could be a great provider for armour in the game.
This is his page in wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Filippo_Negroli

We could also talk about João Pereira de Sousa, also known as Botafogo (something like Spitfire) He was the gunnery respnsable of the most powerfull portuguese Galleon, the São João Baptista. (that Galleon later was also known as Botafogo, because of João Pereira de Sousa)
There is nothing about him on wikipedia (in english at least) but there is a link for the ship it self
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Botafogo_(galleon)

I've seen a few books about that, dont remember the names. But i believe you can find it in the topic "research" in this forum. Also check this site out: http://www.iro.umontreal.ca/~vaucher/RW/Voiliers/page1/page1.html

Why not have famous explorers added to the game? Pedro Alves Cabral, Vasco de Gama, even Magellan could all be added as npc's. I know the times of their lives are not accurate but its a game, the laws are not concrete.

Many ships and characters in UW are from different periods but it doesn't really matters.

In my game, I want to have a Knight of St.-John.
Those guys have played too much of a role to be ignored.
Also someone from Venice(at it's peak of glory).
A guy from France (either from Marseilles, Bordeaux or Nantes, I haven't decided yet).

I want to add an old Marco Polo in the story somehow and most importantly, give Pilly Reis a bigger role.

I like the thoughts about Venice and an old Marco Polo, or a descendant maybe, especially.

Any information that I provide is based on the SNES version unless otherwise specified. I have thousands of hours into New Horizons and I have played it since it was released in the US on the SNES.

Yes, even a dialogue about these famous explores or some sort of relation between them and the main character would already be very nice. I think Francis Drake should be there to.

I think one of the best things the game should have is:

since time is passing buy, new towns or supply port should appear.

For example, in 1537 Asuncion was settled and many others cities around America. Northamerica is so poor in village or towns

Is a shame that Siberian 2 rivers got no supply or village to discover something.

Yes, i tho historical caracters should appear like NPC... Magallanes, Sebastian Elcano, Pedro de Mendoza..

Yeah even though it would be nice to see things changing with the passing of the time, I think it would break the atmosphere of the game. UWNH has this relaxed open world feel to it, and I think that giving more emphasis to the passing of the time may make it feel a little too rushed. Dunno though, just my opinion.

Until Mandril mentioned it, I'd never heard of Asuncion. As I can best ascertain, that should've been across from where you may or may not discover the Anteater as a village discovery, on the Paraguay River. If they'd portrayed it as a normal port, though I can hardly think of anything it would've had that Rio De Janeiro and Pernambuco don't that would've added much to the game. Also, I can hardly think of appropriate discoveries to put on the Siberian rivers. Frozen mammoths would logically be out, as there's a spot where you might be portrayed instead as lucky enough to discover one of the last few live mammoths before they become totally extinct instead. However, a lot of people don't know it, but there's something that would've been worth adding as a discovery as close to those rivers as on the other side of the north ends of Norway and Sweden from the supply port of Narvik-- the Bolshoi Zayatsky Labyrinths, a still-unexplained mystery of history. They don't actually have it in the game, I just wish they did. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stone_labyrinths_of_Bolshoi_Zayatsky_Island
