I really don't think windows xp home and xp would have different emulated cmd prompts that don't support the same extended memory. That would take a completely different microcode and implementation and i don't think MS would do something like that between the same OS. I'm researching a little to try to find a solution, but im not getting far. I just wanted to let you know so you don't give up..

as a worst case scenario you can dual boot with windows XP... see if you can find a copy of win 95, 98, or ME. read an article about dual booting on google and you should be fine. I've heard dual booting those two windows is exactly efficient, but im not sure the truth to that. I'd do that as a last resort if you can't find a solution.
