Having never dueled before both myself and my character are horrible. I was wondering if anyone had any strategy of attack/parrry/defend/thrust or whatever in order to have the best chance for success in a duel?

I normally only start dueling after I get a star armour and sword. Once I get them, I normally just strike/block. I normally win by the 10th time. (In order words, I win the duel) I achieve this even when my swordsplay is around 40+

unless you are familiar with what you are facing, thats ok, but if you are duelling a merchant fleet, a broad sword and chainmail will suffice

It seems the most common CPU moves are lash and block. The CPU attack differs much more than their defense. I have found that CPU uses the block defense about 60% of the time regardless of my type of sword. Thrusting swords seem to rule this game.

And most often, there isa strategy that they have, and it loops, for instence, they start with a block, then they lash, then parry, then thrust, then dodge, and Strike, and then block again,
and once a character's loop has been made, it stays with them but it does not loop all the time, many do though
