I looked through the Otto Banes guide and it did not mention this, maybe i didnt look hard enough but in my game after getting my rank as Squire, the King has asked me to be an envoy and propose a treaty to Spain, was i meant to be somewhere on a date or am i meant to do something, cause i cannot enter spanish ports?

Hate to say it, but it won't work. They won't let you in the palace and you'll be lucky to get out with your bank account intact.

Always save before entering the palace when the king wants to see you, then you can just load and go back in if he gives you a task you don't like or can't do.

If all else fails, refuse to do it and he'll be back asking you to do something else later.

For what it's worth, fellow sailor & sailorette adventurers, I believe that the four fifths of your fortune that in this instance the King of Spain or wherever will seize from you applies to the four fifths of what you're carrying on your person, not what is in your bank account at the Marco Polo Bank.

Alternatively, if you're anticipating such a seizure, loading your huge boats up with gold, silver, ivory, coral, etc (Gold is the priciest) is another way of protecting your wealth from seizure.

Raquel's Advice is the best if you do not want to dissapoint the King. Load your ships down with gold and then go talk to him, as the 4/5ths deal not only affects your person, but the bank account as well... I leaned this the hard way
