I'm curious what, if any advantage, is there to building a new ship as opposed to buying used?

Specifically, La Raele explorer ships. Used ships are not the highest hull quality. However, for ships that should never get into fights, does that matter?

Do used have any other advantage?

In short, should I bother building a set of Raele's, or simply used the readily available used ships?

eg. if a pirate is waiting outside and you need a fleet fast 😛

'hull' matters for storms too.

Getting a used Galleon or two and changing the number of crew bunks to a large enough number so that you can overwhelm a pirate like Idin Leis etc and take his Venetian Galeasses works in the meantime while you're saving for (and then waiting for) your Full-Rigged ship(s). Sure it costs a pretty penny to reconfigure the insides of your Galleons, but if it lets you win Leis' Venetian Galeasses, it's worth it. Though really your best bet in that situation is to just hope the idiot pirate will agree to a duel before all your men are slaughtered, and since his ships have 320 men apiece, you need to have more to be sure he'll agree to the duel.

But yes, until you can get your Full-Rigged ships, a fleet of obtained Venetian Galeass ships works best, since reconfigured to meet your needs they can devastate in battle, and reconfigured again they have huge cargo capacity which makes for pleasant and profitable trading.

La Realle are awsome ships to explore and trade with. They don't require redicilously high experienced mates.

About the used ships or new ships...
Used ships don't have a high durability, which means they will sink rather fast, in both combat and at seas I suppose.
I think you can't remoddel them quite well enough, can't remember that part. :}
