Thanks for your quick response ZhaoYun. Unfortunately, the cutscene after fighting Bret Perot involving the rescued sailor informing Catalina of Joao's whereabouts in Massawa did not trigger. We became a citizen of Spain before kidnapping Lucia. Subsequent to the battle with Perot we have fought him a number of times and many other fleets and still no Post battle cutscene. Nothing triggers in massawa as per usual either. Piracy fame at this point is 48,000. We will try to defect to other nations but so far no defect option has appeared. The fortune Teller says we cannot advance our story with Spanish nationality either.

***SPOILERS***

I know you can play as Catalina Loyal to Spain from the time you pick up Andreas until you find Joao in South America because I've done it many times as a Spaniard. You may be able to skip all the other scenes because of your fame and go to a port in South America to trigger the final scene. There is a little extra "denunciation" statement when you are loyal to Spain at that point and if you check Catalina after leaving the port you will see that she is loyal to piracy again.

Assuming that you triggered the scenes that told you to go after Perot, there is a bit of a time limit on that event. I don't know exactly how that event would be handled since it is pivotal to the story. It may be similar to Otto's "gold shipment" event, if that shipment reaches Seville before you can attack the fleet you will miss the event. Also, you still need to be told about Joao again when you get to the Middle East, try one of the ports in the other peninsula (check in the cafe/pub). If I remember correctly, you also need to get a little scene when you arrive in Massawa about him not being there yet. The first thing I'd check is a northern Middle East port. But yeah, you may have missed the Massawa event with Catalina. If so you will probably trigger her final event if you visit a few South American ports.

Any information that I provide is based on the SNES version unless otherwise specified. I have thousands of hours into New Horizons and I have played it since it was released in the US on the SNES.

The loyalty to the country can matter for Otto or Catalina. Playing for otto, I have passed almost all plot, but before decisive fight attacked English of fleet and has received the status of the pirate. After that floated about 10 years and the king did not cause me. Further once has gone to the palace in London, and me have fined on all 4/5 gold. At once after that the king has called and has offered the decisive task.

Yeah, my post was just regarding what happens if you trigger the last event
for Catalina while loyal to Spain.

It makes sense that Otto's story would have problems if you loose the loyalty
to England. I don't remember if this has been mentioned here before,
but something else that can happen to Otto:

It like a video of one of the participants of this site, if not I am mistaken, Old Post. An illustration of a plot if to refuse fight with the Spanish captain. At the end you nevertheless should go to him in the visitors in Seville, differently plot will not be finished.
