Post Best Trade Route

Well, I beleive I've found the most profitable trade route in the game......

Starting in Lubeck, buy silver repeatedly, over and over, about 20 lots at a time, this brings the price of gold up, up, up.....

You will know when the price is at max, silver sells for 255, price index is at 150% for jewelry, which is at max.....

Gold will now sell at 1650 per lot....

If you have gold, sell 1 ship's worth, then continue to jack the price by buying silver until all your gold is sold out.....

You need about 1 1/2 ships loaded for every 5 ships

Now sail to Argin

Sell your silver about 20 lots at a time until he only offers you 90 per lot

Price index is now at 50% for Jewelry, which is minimum

You can now buy gold for 350 per lot

Load 1 ship with gold, then go back to selling silver to depress the price, fill up the next ship...

You need to load up about 3 ships on your first run and eat a bigger loss on the silver, but the payoff is worth it.

Ok, so you have to eat a loss on the silver, but when you consider the massive profit you make on the gold, and only have to load up for a 16 day trip (I usually go for 20 to be on the safe side)

I suppose you could start this route with just 3 midsize ships, but I usually start out with 5.

I love this route because it's HIGHLY profitable, easy and Antwerp and Hamburg are right on the way, so you can just run this route while outfitting a brand new fleet of full-rigged ships.

I'm not entirely sure, but Sofala, 17s 35e, sells gold for way less, even without the haggling with silver. Sofala, on the other hand, is around 2-3 times firther away too.

Okay, just checked. I sold a way lot of silver in sofala, and got the price index down to 50%. They pay 85 for silver at minium, and Gold sells back at the lowest for 247, with Ali's accounting + negotiation skills.
And, from that, you gotta remember, I forgot to buy Tax-free license.

So, my quick calculations take the gold all the wayt down to 206 pieces per slot.
And having a ship of 550 room for goods, that would make the profit in lubeck, per ship (without counting the silver purchase) 794,200 pieces. As in 79 ingots, 200 gold.
1 unit of gold transhers to profit of 1444, and one unit of silver to maximum loss of 170 (buy at 255, sell at 85 )

I'm math nature, so I'm taking this bit further.
To make the "worst case scenario" calcuation. That is, that you have to buy 1 silver for 1 gold.
thus, you would make 170 gold less profit, that would still end you up with 1,247 gold on the plus side per slot.

Worth the journey over the south atlantic and a bit north of indian ocean?
Go figure.

Ok, 247....with haggling. But what is the listed price in Sofala? Gold is listed as a low of 350 in Madeira and Argin, but you can haggle down to 245 with a rank of Baron (I think you can haggle lower if your rank is higher), and the lowest price they offer for silver is 90 instead of 85, so you're losing less money on your silver, spending less money for your gold, and consuming less supplies if you go to Argin or Madeira.

I recall the listed price to be 350 as well, maybe 330, but the difference in the end is not that great.

off To Argin I go then... *Sets sails*

Joshua... the gold/silver deal you were mentioning is the best profit I can find in the game. I have solved this game... all 6 scenarios. I've played it many times over the years and I think you can safely say with a fleet of 10 full rigged ships, all maximized for cargo, you can make a fortune so large in one trip, it really is on the order of 100 ingots profit.
