first of all, thx for making this website because this awesome game really deserves a beautifully designed site as this.

my question is that are there ports where you can go to learn accounting & negotiation skills?

i have another question - what's the easiest way to obtain the "angel" figurehead and the rare (forget the name) guns? normally what i do is visit ports with industry=1000 near the beginning of the month and try my luck, but still the chances are fairly low.

obviously everything can be done with hex edit but that loses half the fun.

As far as I know, the skills of accounting and negotiation can only be had "naturally"...meaning there is no where to go to learn them, like you can with gunnery, etc.

As for the angel figurehead, I can't remember the exact answer...I know someone else on the list will be able to answer that though...

as for angel & goddess figurehead and that gun, you have to increase your luck by donating to church first.

now i'm playing the italian dude and i'm stuck with the medallion map, where do i go again?

the best town to get 'Goddess' not just 'Angel' figurehead, and carronades are Venice and Antwerp. i mostly succeed there.

you must have luck 100. visit church/mosque and donate some percentage of your gold in hand. to see your luck, well, just check your life. if you see the message 'what a great luck. you have nothing to fear in this life' or something, then your luck is 100.

but still, you right that the chances are so low. very unfair and boring to click it over and over to get message 'we have the best selection today' or something, so that the angel/goddess figurehead available to buy.

i prefer a few hex editing ..

no town.

and this is one of the bad part of the game. basic accounting should be learned in venice since venesian traders are known as an expert in accounting.

simple guidance for pietro:

- begin the game in genoa, sail to lisbon
- in lisbon, receive money, sextant, telescope and sail anywhere to find discoveries and ports to raise your fame in adventures
- after finding discoveries, sell the stories in lisbon. this will raise your fame too.
- after reaching 80 knowledge & 75 intuition, learn cartography in barcelona/palma since they're not too far away from genoa & lisbon. reporting discoveries & the progressing world map, will raise your fame.

- after reaching some numbers in fame, sail to luanda and visit pub. buy medallion's map. search it.
- after finding medallion, just sail to any port (not supply port), to receive a part of storyline in the harbor

- after reaching some numbers in fame, you will meet joao in his house in lisbon. he will give you a quest to find posseidon's staff. sail to any port in the middle east.
- in any port in the middle east, visit pub. the tavern master will hint you to visit a fortune teller in a port (random) near alexandria or istanbul.
- the fortune teller will hint you to visit a tavern master in a port (random) in the middle east.
- receive the map, find it, and bring to joao in massawa. read the story.

- after reaching some numbers in fame, in any harbor, you will meet ali vezas. he tells you to go to zipangu (japan area). visit nagasaki first, then sakai.
- in sakai, you will meet ernst in the harbor. read the story. he tells you to go somewhere near equator.

- in the ports near equator, for example: rio, pernambuco and cayenne (just visit one of them), you will find an important person in the harbor. read the story.
- just sail back to lisbon to winning the game.

the medallion burried in random location. but sure is in the location where you could find a village.

in one game, you could find 50 villages available in random from 98 villages all. the medallion burried in one of the rest 48 villages location. just find it!

well, you start the game with a sextant, so why not simply go to the x;y location given and see if there's a village - set some people on your ship to 'lookout' if they cant see anything. and if there's no village, simply 'dock' with the land-side there (like you normally would do if you wanted to repair your ship or search for water)

also, there's a port directly SW from Lisbon - Madeira i think - its a 'village port' – be sure to visit at least once & talk to the waitress there. Can’t remember why. Been 4years since I played his adventure. (memory fades)
