i don't believe this - they didn't include the graphics files in that package!

its a seperate download at:
http://www.rrrevolution.com/download/comment.php?dlid=17
[called the RTP package]

i should have known since the total filesize was only 26 mb

ok, so in short, all you need is:
http://rpgmaker.thaiware.com/download/109/rm2k3109aefull.exe [26mb]
http://www.rrrevolution.com/download/redirect.php?dlid=17 [11mb]

tested it myself.

Er...why are you using RPGMaker?

Why not actually write a game...?

well, quite simply: resources, support.

* time.. i'm deeply involved in other projects.
* i'm not getting paid to do this.
* i'm not going to sell it in the end as it won't compare to say uncharted waters online's graphics.
* as i'm only one developer (not artist btw) and
* so far the community haven't supported me much.
(without that, the project wil take years to complete)
(and by not using rpgmaker, i would have to design my own game engine, which will naturally take more time) - did you visit my 'unupdated' homesite, i explain it there.

I was going to put up those tutorials i promised, but it didn't seem to interest anyone anymore.
Mayhap i'll put them up later if i find the time to compile them, yet that was the general idea since december..

I still look at it now and then, but then find something else to do.
i'll never forget my UW adventures.
Just wish i can find a free host that gives me perl/sql support so i can host some nice applications - have this nice brower based spacegame a previous lecturer of mine designed which i can host. Actually i think he'll be hosting the new version somewhere soon.

The amount of interest you initially put in is what you're going to get back in the form of fan response. I liked and appreciate the effort, but I'm afraid that your RPGMaker remake is going to fall into the forgotten history of games.

I doubt that will happen, you 'did'? read over the hoards of text on the projectpage right?

To summarize:
One can make a very nice game with this, but if it hasn't become obvious how much work is involved,
you will certainly see once you start. Combine that with the fact that one must do other work to get bread on the table
& you'll realise why i've handed this 'hobby' over to the community to help work on. Will take me years doing it alone.

basically that says its a hobby/part time/when i have time/ thing. Also, i'm forever fasinated with the carribbean, the ports, pirate ships... the only likely thing that will happen maybe is i drop the rpg-maker program and make a complete web-based pirate game like what http://en.zepirates.com/ is attempting.

but i already have this map, and some ppl already put in effort - i don't like abandoning work like that.

ps. you're quite something - just sitting there an giving critique, yet not offering to lift a finger to help
rofl/

forgotten history of games.?? mm, you do know about http://www.cdos.org/default.php for instance? they host old dosgames which are over 20 years old.. good stuff never die.

Hi
Love what you are attempting to do and wish you well. One thing I would like to see is trade routes which you can set up and which one of your ships will sail automatically and buy and sell at pre defined ports while you get on will your travels.

thanks for that.
yes, i think that could be done. i can define a path for them to move from A to B.. yet that requires my ports to be on the right locations before that is implemented.

[just like to add that one should be careful not to try and turn this into a 'management game' like patrician where the goal was simply to make money]

Notice to others struggling to post, you need to 1st go to here: http://www.unchartedwatersnewhorizons.com/home/
and log in at the bottom, yet i pressed that button 7 times and nothing happened, it seems you MUST press the "remember me" checkbox to be able to effectively log in.

or you can keep mailing me privately, i think i just prefer here, since then everyone stay updated.
I might finally find a bit of time to work on this next month.

meanwhile, while you fella's wait for that critical stuff, (not to redirect anyone away from my things), but if you want to see what rpgmaker is capable of in practice.. see the new topic i'm making.
