I downloaded the PC version, and whenever I enter a duel, the game crashes on me. Any ideas on how to fix this?

you should try running it with dosbox (emulator for DOS)
available: dosbox.sourceforge.net
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/dosbox/DOSBox0.70-win32-installer.exe?download
help:
http://dosbox.sourceforge.net/wiki/index.php?page=Usage
basically in short:
your game is under say [C:/dosgame/UW2]
in dosbox you type:

(hit enter after each statement)
mount x C:/dosgame
x:
(will see x:/> )
cd UW2
(will see x:/uw2/> )
koei

grr, backward slashes don't seem to display on this forum - just change the forward slashes "/" to the other one "\"

I had the same problem using DOSBox in OS X. I think I've fixed it.

In another thread, someone said the problem is with EMS memory use and suggested that XP users right-click koei.com file and set EMS and XMS memory use to AUTO.

I noticed that DOSBox's default settings (at least for OS X) have EMS set to off. After I changed the DOSBox setting to EMS=true, duelling seems to work. So it seems you need to have some EMS memory allocated.

To see if you do have EMS memory in DOSBox, type "mem" and hit return. It should look something like this:

634 Kb free conventional memory
63 Kb free upper memory in 1 blocks (largest UMB 63 Kb)
63408 Kb free extended memory
63408 Kb free expanded memory

The last line is important. You don't have any expanded memory, I think you can't duel.

Newer operating systems don't jive well with DOS expanded memory. People have been having this problem for a while, and while most people can get it to work some people never will be able to. The DOS emulator thing is a new trick though...

I just gave up and got an SNES emulator and the ROM.
