Has understood in gaiden of the version of new horizons a little. Most of all delivers here of diagram, which undoubtedly is better, than in snes and genesis the versions (which already have bothered) a little. Therefore it would be desirable something new. Ports on a map same (99 everything, I do not consider supply ports). Perfect musical support, and also some changes by a technical part. For example, some navigators are in other ports from a beginning of game, for example Jack Diffson here in Dublin. Unique, the plot is not clear. It is bad, that after the coding of a video of the diagram loses some parameters, for example, such as contrast. Also because of the program of videocapture brakes a little.

You had asked about one of the characters in Massawa that says something about Aksum. I did a little research and that was a kingdom or empire that was in that area about 1400 years before New Horizons.

I think it was just a nice little historical reference, but they might have intended to put one of the villages (discoveries) in the area. It doesn't have anything to do with Atlantis or have any other purpose in the game.

Any information that I provide is based on the SNES version unless otherwise specified. I have thousands of hours into New Horizons and I have played it since it was released in the US on the SNES.

I looked at the text dumps to see if there were any villages that fit the description of Aksum, so that part came from the game. The part about it being an empire from 1400 years before New Horizons was from a web search for Aksum.

My guess about St. Elmo Fire is that it is one of the "hazards" at sea that is described as a phosphorescent light and it has no visible effects on the ships or the crew when you encounter it.

I know of two locations where you can find the phosphorescent light, the first is west of the English Channel (London, Bristol) at 52N 13W if you are using a Theodolite. The second location is north of Capetown at 23S 13E using a Theodolite.

Maybe someone can answer this because I have no idea.

I got this from wikipedia, "The game is a port of the original game for both iMode and Yahoo Mobile capable mobile phones in Japan." So, it appears to have been only in Japan (normal for Koei) and only on certain phones.

Other time it happens, that the politics KOEI is not absolutely clear. First, why to not make translations of some games with Japanese (gaiden, uncharted waters III and IV). Then at us in Russia " new horizons " has the large popularity, and the people plays snes, genesis and even on sega with the Japanese translation. Why to not make translation on Russian? On some sites I have found out, that all the same our programmers translate this game, but the words have turned out a little not coherent and with mistakes.

Then " new horizons " (uncharted waters II) so is popular why to not continue it a part of game and to create something new...

Oh, there are a lot of Koei games from the NES and the SNES that I would love to see on something like the DS. I can only guess that they keep their translators busy on more current games and they have a few online versions, like the free-to-play version of a new horizons type of game. There are a few topics here about the Uncharted Waters Online, but I don't know what languages are available for it.

I don't think they have had much success, comparatively, outside of Japan. I think a good bit of that is due to the lack of promotion or at least the type of promotion. While there may be 50,000 people outside of Japan that want to play a certain game, it isn't really worthwhile for them unless there are ten times that many and that is just for one of the games.

It doesn't seem like much to translate a few games and make them available, but when you start translating you have to decide how many languages you need to translate a game into and if it was as easy as it sounds there would be a lot of games available that aren't.

When New Horizons became available on the Wii for download, I don't think they had much success and I don't think it was promoted at all. The only people that downloaded the game on Wii were the people that had already played the game or someone that was trying to play some of the classics.

As much as I would like to see their games made available, especially the ones you mentioned, I understand why they are not...and I still don't like it. 😉

I was set by a question, on what the size of quantity gold, required at the king can depend. Probably, following reasons here matter. First of all title should be high, best will approach "duke". But one title will be not enough, and it is necessary to take into account, that the kings of the different countries differently concern to a question on granting gold and ships. It is necessary also to observe interests of the friendly country in game and on a plot. The struggle with a piracy, with fleet of the opponent is always welcomed in case of war. As far as I know war присходит between Italy and Turkey, and also between England and Spain. The mass investment of ports, and also exact performance of the orders of the king will promote increase of the sum given gold from the governor.

Rank certainly seems to affect the amount you are able to get, or it might be fame or both. Another likely factor is the profit number reported by the guild for your country. I was surprised at how early I could get 100,000 gold when the profit for Portugal went above 20,000. I don't have a lot of numbers to back this information, so for now all I can say for sure is that rank is important.
