Post Did I trap myself? (Ali)

So I'm playing Ali's story when I take a guild mission to transport goods from Genoa to some other place. Problem being, since Turkey and Italy are blockading each other I can't get the mission. Genoa being Italy's capital, I also can't really hope for Turkey to take it by force. I'm also pretty sure you can't get more royal missions without clearing your outstanding contracts.

Is there any way for me to cancel the guild mission somehow, or am I stuck?

Just enter the port after dark (8:00 pm). Just keep exiting and entering the harbor until the guards are no longer there and then stay at the inn or enter buildings until 4:00 am.

There isn't any need to cancel the mission, but if you really want to loose fame all you have to do is not make the delivery in time (I'm pretty sure those have a specified time).

Any information that I provide is based on the SNES version unless otherwise specified. I have thousands of hours into New Horizons and I have played it since it was released in the US on the SNES.

At Italy with Turkey is war, but if the attitudes of your character, that is Ali, with Italy are positive, can quietly enter into buildings of all Italian ports. Well and if guard does not start up, it is possible to make the way at the night.

Somehow, despite hitting ports mostly after dark, I never hit Genoa after dark. Thanks for the help.

There are a lot of little things in the game to think about, so don't feel bad if you need a little help.

Yes there are. We have been playing it a lot and we still find some new stuff somehow.
In my case, using cheats helped me play more because I finished it so many times and using the friendship cheat with the locals for example, help me save time so I can concentrate on other aspects.
I wouldn't like to use cheats if it were my first time playing a game though.

Right now my new gig is to try attacking stronger fleets with smaller ships and smaller crew. It's very exciting when I succeed, especially against Khayr-ad Din and other with Venetian Galleasses.

Did you guys noticed that it is possible to give individual orders to each captains? I don't know how precise it is because some of my captains don't always listen even though they are 100% loyal. You can tell them to rush (stupid action) or fire at any ships you want. I always tell them to attack the enemy flagship. This game never cease to amaze me. I wish I could erase my memory of all the games I like so I can replay them all for the first time. 😀

Yeah, that would be a good idea...as long as it happened when I was younger. My memory seems to be erasing itself these days. :p

I'm not sure that issuing orders to your captains in battle does any good. I stopped trying many years ago after I was issuing orders to "Fire" only to realize at the end of the battle that those ships didn't have any gunpowder. 😮

My strategy is to go into battle with 3 or 4 ships if I want to level a mates battle levels. That also allows me to capture 6 or 7 of the enemy 's ships.

I do try to get one battle in early in the game so I can get a Letter of Marque. Of course Otto starts with one of those. To get a Letter of Marque your piracy fame has to be higher than other fames...and you need enough fame to be allowed into the castle/palace (usually 500).

One way to raise my captains levels is by attacking enemies from a distance. Instead of being directly behind or right on the side, I attack them when they are about one or two ship distance. That way, all my captains and myself gets to fire at least 2 times before the enemy even finish to turn around and start attacking. That makes battles last longer but it's more fun.

The mate that reduces a ships crew to zero or sinks the ship will gain the most experience. That experience is more as the size of the ship increases. Still, anything above a galleon won't give that much more experience than a galleon.

Granted, each attack (melee or firing a canon) does gain a tiny amount of experience.

BTW when you duel you can reset and repeat the battle for different stat increases (provided you saved right before the battle). 🙂

The development of abilities of a command is a long and labour-consuming process. I usually do so: сначало I shall be defined, than to engage - in trade or military actions. For trade it is enough to type ten men, at which ability to navigation are great. Under the information on character of the navigator it is important to take into account number of parameter, where the anchor is drawn. For example very good navigators for speed - Anthony Morgan, Dante Paleira, Afmed Glanie, Luka Ullman, Diego Fagundes and others. More detailed list is necessary for making. Further to lift their level of navigation up to 15 and it is possible to be sent in navigation with the maximal speed.
