Most pirates have carracks and galleons to begin with, except the ones in Algiers. It is VERY unusual that they won't leave port. The only thing I can think of is possibly a code conflict, are you using any codes?

The six nations usually have at least one fleet that contains light galleys and flemish galleons to begin the game with. Those fleets would start having VGs after being defeated, and if you have a Letter of Marque you only get 1 anger per attack instead of the normal anger points.

Any information that I provide is based on the SNES version unless otherwise specified. I have thousands of hours into New Horizons and I have played it since it was released in the US on the SNES.

Hi thx for the reply. Not using code/cheats probably need more patience I guess. Only thing different in this game is I defected to Portugal in the beginning and after attacking a few fleets saving up enough money got the Errol's plate then now all the VG fleets are gone...

Yeah, defection in Catalina's game shouldn't have any effect. Sometimes I defect back to Spain after the being saved by fire event. The only thing about that is what happens when an event that is triggered and starts the final story event takes place (there's a minor twist). I'm trying to avoid spoilers, so I hope that made sense.

Defection shouldn't make a difference in Catalina's or in Pietro's game. Actually, to make things a bit easier I usually defect Pietro to Portugal as early as possible.

I see thx I guess just because I am more used to trading in early game hence not taking such great notice of other fleets before being ready to take on other fleets in battle
