Uncharted Waters New Horizons

I just got my hand on a book: The Barbary Coast: Algeria under the Turks. by John B.Wolf.
In the first chapter I found some more information about this character who his shown as loyal to Italy in the New Horizon game.

He was from Genoa and he owned a fleet of galleys. He was some kind of mercenary.
He was employed by Francis I of France at first then he worked for Charles V of Spain until the end of his carreer.

I knew a few things about him from another book (Venice). It seems that he fought against Khayr-ad-Din on a couple occasions.

This makes me want to play UWNH even more.
I'll probably gocrazy once I finished the book. 😀

BTW, the name Reis means commander or captain of a corsair ship.
I wonder if the Name Pilly Reis is related to this.

The best way to recruit him is by using a cheat and recruiting him at the lodge in Istanbul. Otherwise he appears randomly and if you defeat him often, next time he appears he will have a war fleet.
I don't really know why.

The interesting idea, and is necessary to check up it. Pilly Reis can be in game with military fleet and with by trade, but never uses Venecian Galeass. If the turkish captains had such fleet, without preservations to game they would be difficult for winning.
