As for the gypsies, I was just thinking of entertainment such as their dancing, singing, fortune telling, and magic displays or other types of shows they might offer for entertainment. I think they may have been later than the 1490s.

May be I should add gypsy settlements on Europe, similar to the native ones in America... gotta read a bit on their history

Remember that it is still being developed, but like I said I'm having a lot of fun with the game.

A little tip, if you download and try the game, hire some colonists (maybe ten or twenty) before leaving the port for the first time. Sail generally southwest until you find land (South America). Chop wood until you have enough for the initial 200 wood needed and then you will want to build more houses and some farms, for which you will need to chop more wood.

The tip that got me far enough into the game was to build enough houses to hold all of your party and then inhabit the village while foraging fruit (automatic when inhabiting a village). When you have enough to last, you can do some more building before returning to the starting port. By the time your first harvest from the farms (mentioned above) is in stock you should have enough food to make the return trip and get the reward. The second reward takes longer, so prepare with some military and more colonist. Anyway, give it a try!
