I found more interesting info.
16th century: The French had consuls in Algiers, Tunis and Tripoli. They built a fortified trading post between Algiers and Tunis in which they set up a coral fishing business and traded European goods for wax, hides, grain and horses with Berber tribes.

16th century: It seem that the common enemy of France,England, the Hansa, and the Ottoman was Spain.
Later, when the Dutch made peace with Spain, the Algerian were at war with them.
Between 1613 & 1622, the Barbary pirates captured 447 Dutch ships! 😮

The Barbary pirates became more powerful because of the Moors who were expelled from Spain and moved to North Africa, bringing their skills with them and amplifying the hatred against Christians...

For those who are interested in learning more about the Barbary Coast or anything related to Uncharted Waters, here's a good link: archive. org is a great site for free e-books, music, videos and what not.

You know, I sunk that many pirate ships trying to get Ali's battle stats high enough to recruit Pilly Reis. 😀

Any information that I provide is based on the SNES version unless otherwise specified. I have thousands of hours into New Horizons and I have played it since it was released in the US on the SNES.
